Who We Are
IQ TEFL Academy was built on a simple belief: that where you grew up doesn't determine how well you can teach English.
Built for the World's English Teachers
Around 80% of the world's English teachers are non-native speakers. Yet most TEFL courses are written from a native-speaker perspective — designed as if every teacher grew up watching British TV and instinctively knows the difference between a defining and non-defining relative clause.
IQ TEFL Academy takes a different approach. Our curriculum was designed with non-native and international teachers at the centre — covering not just what to teach, but how to teach it confidently when English wasn't your first language. The grammar modules are written for people who learned English formally. The confidence-building sections address real anxieties, not imagined ones.
Since 2018, we've supported over 25,000 teachers from more than 70 countries. Our graduates teach in language schools, hagwons, universities, international schools, and on online platforms — every teaching context where English is in demand.

What We Stand For
Inclusive by Design
Every module is written with non-native English teachers in mind. We don't treat your accent or first language as a disadvantage — we treat it as the additional perspective you bring to the classroom.
Honest Certification
We don't make claims we can't back up. Our certificates are reviewed and accepted by employers we have genuine relationships with — not vague promises of "global recognition" without substance behind them.
Real Tutor Relationships
You're not submitting assignments into a void. Every student is assigned a qualified tutor who reads your work, understands your context, and gives feedback that actually helps you improve.
Career-Focused Outcomes
Completing a TEFL course is the means; getting a job is the end. Our placement resources, partner school network, and CV support are built to get you from qualified to employed as efficiently as possible.
Meet the Team
The tutors and advisors behind IQ TEFL Academy's programmes.
Priya has spent 14 years teaching English as a second language across India, the UAE, and the UK. As a non-native speaker herself, she understands the unique challenges faced by international teachers and has designed IQ TEFL's core curriculum around practical confidence-building strategies rather than theory-heavy frameworks.
Tomasz began his English teaching career in Warsaw before moving to London where he earned his DELTA and later an MA in ELT. With over a decade of experience supporting non-native English teachers, he specialises in grammar instruction methodology and making complex linguistic concepts genuinely teachable.
Aiko spent eight years teaching in Japan and South Korea before transitioning to curriculum development and teacher placement. She leads IQ TEFL's Asia career guidance programme and provides specialist advice on online teaching platforms, contract negotiation, and classroom adaptation for Asian educational contexts.
